AL-P Specialty: Pelvic Health

Women's and Men's Wellness Across the Lifespan 

This course equips AL-Ps with comprehensive knowledge of female maturation, pregnancy, and postpartum, along with male pelvic floor dysfunction. It covers training modifications, energy demands, physiological changes, and hormone fluctuations. AL-Ps learn to recommend proper exercises for each pregnancy trimester and postpartum and gain competency in hormonal influences on movement and pregnancy. The course emphasizes connecting with local healthcare providers for effective pelvic health advocacy.

Course Structure

3 months of support including:

  • An online course with recorded videos, resources, quizzes, and assignments
  • 1 Free SME Call
  • Daily access to support calls and labs
  • Continued access to the AL-P Community and Active Life staff

After Completing This Course, AL-P's will be able to:

  • Understand and address physical and hormonal aspects of adolescent pelvic health, advocating for comprehensive education
  • Develop tailored fitness programs for teenagers, integrating menstrual cycle awareness
  • Attain expertise in identifying and programming for pelvic floor dysfunctions in adolescents
  • Create client-centered fitness programs for pregnant individuals, managing complications
  • Prepare women for birth by understanding physiological changes
  • Provide comprehensive postpartum support, addressing physical and emotional changes, including common symptoms and complications including urinary incontinence, diastasis recti, and pelvic organ prolapse
  • Develop individualized progressions for postpartum individuals, considering lifelong well-being; recognize and address emotional changes, ensuring a holistic approach
  • Design progressive programs addressing various male pelvic floor dysfunctions
  • Establish a strong referral network for comprehensive care
